Lil Wyte: Says Fans Made Him Successful
Lil Wyte seems more grounded these days. He’s a rapper at heart and always will be. The Three 6 Mafia recognized his talents and the group signed him up as a member, even if he was under 21 then. When the group was dissolved, two of the members, Juicy J and DJ Paul, took Lil Wyte under their wing and worked with him on his first album. In 2003, they released Doubt Me Now, and it was received well in the south. One of the numbers, Smoking Song, soon became the talk of the town and was being played constantly on the Internet.
Doubt Me Now proved to be manna from heaven. Warner Brothers noticed the rapper and invited him to join the company as a flagship artist under the label, Warner Asylum. He took Juicy J and DJ Paul with him to Warner and together, they produced the album, Phinally Phamous in 2005.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Lil Wyte knew from day 1 he wanted to be a rapper. He says his music is a reflection of his life in the streets and knows the difference between what’s real and what’s not. Lil Wyte is a lot calmer now, focusing on his family and his music. Although he dropped out of school twice, he earned his diploma. He says his fans made his success possible and will never forget where he came from.
Lil White’s real name is Patrick Lanshaw. He actually began with an underground rap group called Shelby Forest Clique, but it was with Juicy J and DJ Paul that Wyte experienced the first taste of success with his album Doubt Me Now.
In Phinally Phamous, released in 2004, the following are just a few of the songs featured in it: Icy Whites Soljas, Hoods Run Down, By 2 Da Bad Guy, I Did ‘Em Wrong, My Cutlass, Big A** Guns, Look Like You, U.S. Soldier Boy, Drinking Song, Bay Area, Acid 2004/5, Bald Head H**s, Everybody Gettin Crunk, and Possie Song. Some people believe that Smoking Song is actually about marijuana, while Drinking Song is about prescription cough syrup.
